In March of 1994, DJ moved to an apartment in Covington with the help of Sister Cathy Bauer and her payee program at the Welcome House on Pike Street in Covington. The program works with the homeless who are eligible for Social Security disability. DJ qualified because of a heart problem, as well as being diagnosed as a schizophrenic.
