On the following pages you will see the story of Willie and Ida ~ a homeless couple. I met them one night while taking pictures of the World Trade Center's twin towers. They were living on a lot with a grand view of lower Manhattan. The two allowed me into their lives of transition, while they struggled to get back on their feet and into an apartment.

Willie and Ida were forced out of their apartment in Jersey City, New Jersey after they were unable to pay their landlord rent. Willie had lost his job and couldn't find another one in time to make the rent payments he owed. The couple decided to move their belongings to the Jersey City waterfront where they built a home which they called "Willie's Condo."
